A leaded glass window near the entry of a San Francisco Victorian — not quite a transom, but similarly positioned — had reached the point where the came could no longer do its job. After 80 to 100 years, the metal had fatigued and was breaking down, causing the panel to bow and buckle under its own weight. The steel brace bar, soldered along the lead lines to support the panel from behind, had begun to pull away from its joints.

The window was fully releaded with all original glass preserved and returned to its opening structurally sound.
