2070 San Jose Avenue — Restoration
Alameda, 2015
The second-floor staircase window at 2070 San Jose Avenue had accumulated decades of grime and paint over-spray, muting the colors of a richly detailed Victorian floral medallion — lavender petals, green foliage, a golden amber ground, jewel accents throughout. The clear perimeter border had been so thoroughly obscured that it came as a surprise to everyone when it was uncovered during restoration.
The opportunity came when the house was being repainted and scaffolding was already in place. The window was removed, fully restored, and reinstalled.
